Waveney Valleys Heartsmere Lake

16 January 2010

First fish on dynamite baits!

Hi everyone,

This is the start off uncle Jim first blog.

Here we go,

I've just joined dynamite baits in January so was gagging to get out there and try there range of bait.
i have already been with dynamite 8 years ago and had caught many fish topped with twotone at 61.4,caught on one of there baits"the source".

So i already knew their baits would do me proud, plus Terry Hearn is also with dynamite and hes caught untold amounts of carp using dynamites baits. So all i had to do was get out there and rack'em up!

This all started sooner rather than later, all I had to do was wait for the lakes to thaw, this took nearly 3 weeks so you can imagine i was pulling my hair out!

Session
I arrived to the lakes thawing out, but some still had ice on them, this would be a good test for the bait, the one i chose was dynamites chocolate malt 15mm frozen ready mades.

I would be using there fluoro orange tutti frutti 15mm pop ups straight from the jar as hookbaits.

tutti
choco

I decided to go on Heartsmere as it's a shallow lake that is around two acres and very good for a bite with fish to 30lb. For more information and bookings contact Waveney Valley on: 01986 788676

Rigs: That's simple for me, long running chod rigs.

As no one was on the lake I decided to setup in the centre of the lake so i could fan all four rods around.

I was fishing to a far margin of over hanging trees were these fish seem to hang around, but I fish a rod length sort of the over hangs because most people use remote controlled boats and fish tight in, not for me!!

Anyway I got the rods out double quick as I was gagging to get my first carp of the new year.

Rods out and baited with around 20 to 25 freebies, enough for a bite, please!

So I sat down and started to do some writing for my next book and I was deep in thought as I wrote when all off sudden, say around 50 mins in, I heard a buzzer screaming at me.

Christ... I am in already. As i played this carp all the thoughts of using a new bait had gone.

After a spirited fight I landed a nice common and it weighed 20.4.

HAPPY DAYS for Uncle Jim.

I cast the rod back out and about 1hr later I had another take which resulted in an awesome 27.12c.

I later added a small double figured linear, of around 13lb.

I then went home for the night but returned in the morning......

Be lucky,

Uncle Jim
